We’re so lucky here at St Mary’s to have a fantastic new radio station broadcasting live every day from the first floor of the Students’ Union!
SMUC Radio is a voluntary organisation run by students and staff. The presenters are students or staff who volunteer their time and effort to give you the best student radio station that we can give!
How can we listen?
SMUC Radio broadcasts at smucradio.com, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the whole world online! You can also listen directly through the brand new SU website smsu.co.uk.
‘Being part of SMUC Radio has been nothing but fun! I’ve learned a lot while doing my own show and have had the opportunity to meet some really interesting people and make lots of friends. I have learnt that if you put the effort into your show, you can really engage your audience, and that makes for some brilliant radio’.
As well as playing the very best in pop, rock, dance and indie music, SMUC Radio carries a whole range of information for students about events, developments within the uni, information on student health and welfare issues and news on-the-hour from Sky News. We have also had some amazing nights in the SU Bar, such as 90s Night! This past year has been particularly exciting for SMUC Radio as we’ve been able to chat with Channing Tatum, Lily Allen, Aisylene Horgan-Wallace, Danny Dyer, Josh Hartnett, Metrostation as well as cabinet politicians Vince Cable and David Lammy.
SMUC Radio has also been nominated for a 2010 Student Radio Association award, so fingers crossed we’ll win!
Can I get involved?
There are lots of opportunities to get involved with your radio station. And you don’t have to be a presenter to take part. SMUC Radio is always keen to hear from students who want to contribute to our already exceptional reputation, while gaining invaluable practical experience and having fun. If you’d like to present, produce, be a broadcast assistant or be involved in many other ways, email jobs@smucradio.com for more information. Or you can come visit the SMUC Radio crew in our brand new HQ on the first floor of the Students’ Union building!

Thanks for your feedback!
