Your Union

Entertainment

We are lucky to have a small, one-site campus with a friendly, intimate atmosphere —so it would simply be rude if everyone did not get to know everyone else. It’s our goal for as many students as possible to come along to the SU to socialise together and so we provide students with a variety of entertainment and events.

For instance — wizzy Wednesdays! — the most important night of the week — every Wednesday the SU puts on a disco or a variety of other ents and events to raise funds to support your Clubs and Societies. It is essential to remember that Wednesday night is SU night when all St Mary’s students get together to support their SU — and have a blast!.

It’s not just about Wednesdays though as we aim to entertain you throughout the week. We start on Mondays with a pub2club to Oceana in Kingston — register with the SMSU Website to find out what’s on offer on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday too.

Other highlights of the year are the Christmas and Summer Balls, seasonal events with funfairs, bands, high profile DJs and other entertainment and spectacle. These annual events are often a highlight of a student’s time at uni. Freshers’ Week and RAG Week are another set of huge events to suit every taste.

We are also keen to hear from anyone who can DJ, play guitar, sing or who has any other spectacular talent. You can have your chance to perform and help us to give students the kind of entertainment they want.

Remember, it’s your SU, so if there’s any ents and events you’d like us to put on, or you’d like us to help you put on — just give us a SHOUT!

Your union — your choice

At SMSU we encourage everyone to get involved. So any of you out there with any ideas large or small, please don’t hesitate to come up and say what you think. It really is your union and the sabbaticals and other SU staff need honest feedback so that we can give you exactly what you want. Tell us about it!
