Be a Student Support Worker

Student Support Workers – Dyslexia and Disability Service

We are seeking a number of enthusiastic and committed students to join our busy team, providing support to disabled students and students with Specific Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. 

Some students at St Mary’s require assistance in some of the following areas:

• Notetaking in lectures and seminars (high standard of English and clear handwriting essential)

• Reading academic texts and books (high standard of English and clear reading voice essential)

• Library support e.g. finding and fetching books and photocopying.

• Student buddy to help with the transition to University e.g. getting to know the campus (short-term help required: Level 2,3, and 4 students to apply only)

• Social support e.g. shopping, laundry and outings
All interested applicants should be reliable, good timekeepers and excellent communicators.  You will act as an important member of the team to enhance the academic achievement of your fellow students. 

Your hours may be flexible depending on the timetable of the student/s you are supporting and your own timetable.  The pay is £7.50 per hour on a casual contract as and when required starting from 20th September 2010.
